The ITC SheTrades Mauritius Hub, operating under the Economic Development Board (EDB), hosted the third batch of Export Readiness Training on Wednesday 18th April 2024. This initiative aligns with the hub’s strategy to further bolster the capacity of women-led businesses. In her welcome address, Mrs. Nirmala Jeetah, Director of Bio Industry & Project Development and ITC SheTrades at the EDB, highlighted the ongoing series of training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of women-led businesses. She emphasized on the importance for women entrepreneurs to be equipped with the required resources, skills sets and plans so as to successfully penetrate the international market.
The training was conducted by Mrs. Kheeran Bahadoor, Manager at the EDB. Participants benefitted from insights into export requirements, procedures, and solutions. Additionally, they had the opportunity to evaluate their company’s readiness to enter regional markets, familiarize themselves with checklists for developing export strategies, and gain insights into their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The session was interactive, with practical examples provided to enhance participant understanding. Overall, it was a valuable opportunity for women entrepreneurs to assess their businesses and strategize for the next level of growth.
The SheTrades Mauritius Hub recognizes the crucial role of women’s empowerment in fostering economic development. Through providing women entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge, the hub aims to facilitate their successful growth and prepare them to engage in international trade.
For the year 2024, a series of activities have been planned under the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, including capacity building and marketing events that will provide networking opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
