The Economic Development Board, host agency of the SheTrades Mauritius hub, held a capacity-building programme on Customer Excellence on 17th April 2025. The training is part of an ongoing initiative set to bring women entrepreneurs together, upskill them and broaden their reach.
During the recent years, customer expectations have dramatically risen as international trade has led to increased competition. It is therefore of paramount importance to leverage the strategic drivers that foster business growth to ensure success. Since the customer lies at the heart of any business, adopting a customer-centric approach can significantly enhance profitability.
In her welcome address, Mrs Nirmala Jeetah reaffirmed that the survival of any business depends on how well customers are served. She noted that the guiding principles that would be shared during the workshop have been inspired by the work of Mr Ron Kaufmann, a global leader in customer service excellence. Mr Kaufmann maintains that success rests upon uplifting service experiences which keep customers coming back
The programme was delivered by Mr Irfaan Coowar, the Founder and Director of Future Leaders Ltd, a company specialising in education, training and business support. Mr Coowar, who is also a certified Service Excellence Leader, has a vast experience in delivering training programmes on business development.
He outlined the advantages of delivering great customer care and service excellence and explained how they can be achieved. He emphasized that increased customer loyalty, greater customer engagement leading to brand advocacy, and higher employee motivation are among the key benefits.
The workshop concluded with a networking session where like-minded women entrepreneurs connected, exchanged ideas and explored potential collaboration.
