Capacity Building Workshop: Unlocking Growth with Digital and AI Tools

The Economic Development Board, as host agency of the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, organised an insightful workshop on “Unlocking Growth with Digital and AI Tools” on Tuesday, 19th August 2025. The session was conducted by Ms. Farha Jhumka, a human-centric transformation strategist, who empowers organisations and entrepreneurs to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital solutions in driving sustainable growth.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Nirmala Jeetah, Director of the Bio-Industry, Project Development and SheTrades Mauritius Hub, highlighted the pivotal role of digital technologies as powerful enablers in streamlining operations, boosting productivity and unlocking new market opportunities through data-driven insights and innovative tools.

Ms. Jhumka drew from her rich expertise to demonstrate how businesses can begin their digital journey with automation and gradually integrate AI-driven solutions. She explained how AI is rapidly evolving, moving from conversational tools to transformative applications, and emphasised that staying ahead of the curve is essential for businesses to maintain a competitive edge.

A key highlight was how the effectiveness of AI lies in the precision of prompts, which determines the quality of the output. By mastering the art of clear, context-rich instructions, businesses can unlock AI’s vast potential in areas such as customer engagement (chatbots), marketing content creation, process automation and personalised recommendations amongst else. Participants were also introduced to a range of cutting-edge tools currently available on the market, along with practical insights on where and how they can be applied to enhance business performance.

Ms. Jhumka also addressed key concerns surrounding AI adoption, urging entrepreneurs to embrace the technology responsibly, with a focus on informed decision-making and ethical practices.

The session concluded with practical guidance on how entrepreneurs can take small, measurable steps towards digitalisation by evaluating outcomes, refining strategies and steadily building businesses that are both resilient and scalable in this competitive landscape.

For women entrepreneurs in particular, the key message is clear: thriving in today’s business environment requires embracing technology. By adopting digital and AI-driven solutions, women-led businesses can break barriers, access new markets, and create sustainable growth pathways that ensure their place at the forefront of global trade.
