As part of its ongoing commitment to empower women entrepreneurs and enhance their capacity to compete in global markets, the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, in partnership with the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC), successfully hosted a capacity building workshop entitled: “Boosting Productivity and Competitiveness of Women-Led Enterprises.” on Tuesday 23rd September 2025.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to build resilient, digitally enabled, and productivity-focused women-led enterprises in Mauritius. This transformative event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Dr. Vinaye Ancharaz, Executive Director of NPCC, along with his team Dr. Vimi Goorah and Ms. Shalini Mathaven, key resource people for this workshop.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Nirmala Jeetah, Director of Bio Industry, Project Development, and SheTrades Mauritius Hub, reaffirmed the Hub’s commitment to building resilient, future-ready enterprises.
She emphasized that the workshop aimed to equip participants with practical insights on measuring productivity, optimizing processes, and driving sustainable growth.
In his address, Dr. Vinaye Ancharaz, Executive Director of NPCC highlighted the broader vision of the NPCC, which champions Business Process Reengineering and supports businesses through a wide range of initiatives such as the Enterprise Go Digital platform. He stressed that enhancing productivity is not merely about efficiency, but a critical driver of competitiveness, resilience, and sustainable business growth. By encouraging enterprises to rethink processes and embrace digital transformation, NPCC aims to equip businesses with the tools and mindset needed to thrive in today’s dynamic economic landscape.
Dr. Goorah and Ms. Mathaven, both senior experts from the NPCC, led the interactive sessions and guided participants through a range of productivity tools and innovative approaches. These sessions enabled entrepreneurs to assess their current business models and identify areas where efficiency, digitalisation, and waste reduction could be applied for improved performance. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises to evaluate their current business operations and identify inefficiencies. In addition to technical capacity-building, the workshop also served as a platform for networking, peer exchange, and collaborative dialogue. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, discuss common challenges, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
