DHL GoTrade Training Programme – Session 1: Unleash Global Markets Through Cross-Border E-Commerce and International Trade

The Economic Development Board (EDB), host agency of the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, in collaboration with DHL Express (Mauritius) Ltd, held the first session of the DHL GoTrade Training Programme on Friday, 29th May 2026. The workshop was delivered in an interactive round-table format, with dedicated trainers assigned to each table to facilitate discussions and provide tailored guidance to participants.

The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of women entrepreneurs in export readiness, e-commerce and global shipping solutions, equipping them with the practical knowledge and skills required to access international markets.

Mrs Nirmala Jeetah

In her welcome remarks, Mrs Nirmala Jeetah, Director of the Healthcare & Life Sciences, ITC SheTrades Mauritius Hub at the EDB, highlighted that the workshop has been carefully designed to enhance the export capabilities of women entrepreneurs operating in various sectors of activity. She noted that the DHL programme, conducted last year, laid a valuable foundation by helping participants develop a clearer understanding of international trade processes, export requirements and market entry strategies. It also paved the way for more structured and practical learning opportunities culminating in this year’s programme.

Mr Deepak Deepchand, Country Manager at the DHL Express (Mauritius) Ltd, reaffirmed DHL’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs in their journey towards international growth. He explained how the thematic areas of the workshop were specifically designed to help entrepreneurs become export-ready according to the requirements and realities of their respective sectors.

  • Pricing and Shipping Simulations, helping participants better understand cost structures and make informed pricing decisions for international markets.
  • Export Readiness Assessment, enabling entrepreneurs evaluate their current level of preparedness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Packaging and Shipment Preparation, offering practical guidance on meeting international standards and ensuring products reach customers in optimal condition.
  • International Trade Scenarios, exposing participants to real-life export situations and decision-making processes.
  • DHL Shipping Tools and Processes, introducing solutions designed to simplify logistics management and improve operational efficiency.

The session was very well received with participants actively engaging in discussions and receiving tailored answers to their individual export-related questions and business challenges.
