The Economic Development Board Mauritius (EDB), host agency for the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, hosted a delegation led by Mr. Hargun Aiden, International Consultant from the International Trade Centre from 03 to 04 March 2025. The delegation also included five key officials from the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), the host institution for SheTrades India Hub.
The Peer-to-Peer learning mission focused on knowledge sharing, operationalising the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, and facilitating the internationalisation of women-led businesses.
The two-day program started with a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Mr Sanjay Bhunjun and Mr Sachin Mohabeer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the EDB. The first day featured sectoral insights where Mrs. Nirmala Jeetah, Director, EDB and SheTrades Mauritius, highlighted the achievements and initiatives of the SheTrades Mauritius Hub. A focused session on key sectors of the Mauritian economy provided insights to the FIEO delegation with the objective to enable SheTrades India Hub network to explore bilateral investment and trade opportunities.
A dedicated session on the second day brought together key private sector stakeholders, including the Indian Business Council (IBC), Association Mauricienne des Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises (AMFCE), SheTrades Mauritius Hub, and members of the FIEO. The session aimed to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration. The event was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Kadimbini Aacharya, Director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture and representative of the Indian High Commission in Mauritius. Ms. Sujata Uchil, Joint Director and Member of the FIEO (Western Region) and Mrs. Jeetah delivered the closing remarks at this interactive session.
To further strengthen collaboration between both hubs, SheTrades India Hub has invited SheTrades Mauritius Hub members to participate as sponsored buyers in the upcoming Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM) in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on April 24-25, 2025. This event will provide a valuable platform for women entrepreneurs to explore trade opportunities and expand their market reach.
This initiative aims to enhance market access opportunities and strengthen trade linkages between women entrepreneurs from both countries. Following a selection process, five SheTrades Mauritius members in the Creative Industry, Handicraft, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Wellness sectors will participate in the event. The participants will have the opportunity to engage with potential business partners, explore new trade prospects, and expand their international network.
