SheTrades Mauritius Hub Member Secures Three MoUs at India Business Meet
Mrs Prishni Ghoorbin of S.M. Lights Ltd, a member of the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, participated in the Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, from 16 to 21 August 2026.
Organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the RBSM brought together international buyers and Indian businesses through B2B meetings, creating a space for participants to discover new products, meet potential suppliers and explore possible business partnerships.
Expanding Sustainable Business Opportunities
S.M. Lights Ltd combines handcrafted rattan lighting with modern electrical and renewable energy solutions, including eco-friendly lighting, electrical panels and fittings, photovoltaic solar installations, LED lighting and outdoor lighting solutions.
Participation in the RBSM enabled Mrs Ghoorbin to explore Indian products and solutions that complement the company’s existing portfolio and sustainability-focused business model.
Through the B2B meetings, she explored opportunities across home décor, electrical products and innovative sustainable alternatives, including both finished products and potential sourcing opportunities.
Three MoUs Signed
A key outcome of the participation was the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Indian business partners covering:
- Sustainable home décor – sourcing of environmentally friendly products made from natural and renewable materials, including decorative baskets and banana-leaf products.
- Electrical lighting – collaboration on the sourcing of electrical bulbs to complement S.M. Lights’ existing LED and electrical product range.
Natural grass drinking straws – exploration of a biodegradable alternative to conventional plastic and paper straws, made from naturally hollow wetland grass and suitable for both local and export applications. The natural grass straws are processed through harvesting, cutting, cleaning and drying, offering a biodegradable alternative designed to remain firm in liquids for several hours. The product is available as a fresh straw for short-term, high-volume use and as a dried straw with a longer shelf life suitable for bulk and export applications.
The agreements demonstrate the potential for international B2B platforms to create tangible commercial opportunities, including product diversification, new sourcing channels and partnerships.
Connecting Mauritian Women Entrepreneurs to Global Markets
As the sole SheTrades Mauritius Hub member selected for the programme, Mrs Ghoorbin’s participation highlights the value of international business matchmaking in helping Mauritian women entrepreneurs access new markets, identify innovative products and establish potential long-term commercial relationships.
The three MoUs represent a positive outcome from the RBSM and reinforce the opportunities for women-led businesses to expand their activities their activities through international trade and sourcing partnerships.
