The Economic Development Board, host agency of the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, held a capacity building programme on Sales and Marketing to women entrepreneurs on Thursday 05th September 2024. Its primary objective was to capitalise on sales and marketing strategies for ensuring consistent growth of women-led businesses.
The Hub recognises the importance of women inclusion in today’s workforce. The emergence of female entrepreneurs, both in the local and global arena, has marked a significant shift in market dynamics due to their entrepreneurial approach. Since the Hub’s inception in Mauritius, a series of capacity building programmes have been delivered to empower local women entrepreneurs in different segments in trade.
Through this transformational workshop, the audience was given the right tools to help them establish a stronger presence in both the local and international markets.
In her welcome address, Mrs Nirmala Jeetah, Director of the Bio Industry, Project Development and ITC SheTrades Hub, emphasised the importance of Sales and Marketing in building successful businesses. She highlighted that, by applying the right sales and marketing strategies, entrepreneurs can spot market trends early on, seamlessly connect with their customers and strategically position their companies in today’s highly competitive business landscape.
The workshop was delivered by Dr Eric Bindah, an Academician and Researcher at the University of Mauritius. He delved into common roadblocks hindering businesses like lack of market research, ineffective branding and pricing issues and taught the audience how to navigate through these pitfalls to avoid termination.
He explained how, in today’s volatile marketplace, having a strong strategic marketing and financial plan is key in optimising a company’s profitability. By capitalising on comprehensive sales and marketing strategies, a company can measure its success and bring a holistic approach to customer experience that will drive loyalty and long-term business growth. He reminded the audience that by staying attuned to market needs, they can tap into new market segments and drive demand. Embracing technology and staying updated on the latest tools and trends is a game changer in the business world. Women entrepreneurs have been urged to leverage on technological resources like the social media and web applications to have a competitive edge in this rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The Hub understands that, in the realm of women entrepreneurship, the power of strategic alliances cannot be overstated. Women entrepreneurs have been urged to collaborate with their peers and other key stakeholders, through a networking session, to broaden their reach and take their businesses to the next level.
We encourage female entrepreneurs to participate in our events and benefit from a wealth of resources and networking opportunities. To do so, please register on the SheTrades Mauritius Platform by clicking on the link below:
