SheTrades is an initiative aiming at empowering women entrepreneurs by connecting them with global markets and resources.
SheTrades connects women entrepreneurs with a worldwide network, helping them to find partners, clients, and mentors across different industries. This network is a pivotal for building relationships and achieving business growth.
SheTrades also hosts events and conferences where women entrepreneurs can network, share experiences, and learn from industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs. SheTrades platform also provides information about funding opportunities (like Absa Bank), grants, and competitions that women entrepreneurs can apply for.
The platform allows women to showcase their businesses to a broader audience, increasing visibility and attracting potential clients and partners like my experience in Nairobi.
It offers training programs, webinars, workshops, and resources that helps women develop vital skills necessary for running and growing their businesses. Topics includes business management, marketing, financial literacy, and digital skills. SheTrades often facilitates access to various markets, helping women entrepreneurs understand market conditions and customer needs in different regions. This includes insights into trade regulations, cultural competencies, and best practices for entering new markets.
By prioritizing women-led businesses, SheTrades contributes to the broader goals of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the business world.

“I was part of the Mauritian delegation from She Trades / EDB attending the ABSA Inspire Me Conference in Nairobi Kenya earlier this year. As a Neuro Linguistic Enneagram Personality profiler and NLP Coach, with a purely local focus, I felt it important to explore the possibility of entering foreign markets. The trip gave me more than that. I managed to engage into collaborative discussions with three Kenyan companies, run trial testing as well as find a potential venue partner for HR Café. We are also exploring partnerships and expanding our lines of collaboration with participants in neighbouring countries as well. Needless to say that solid friendship in both the local and international delegations have been weaved along the way and some of us are actively supporting each other still. Thank you to the EDB (Kheeran Bahadoor), the ladies at the SheTrades Hub who accompanied us in Nairobi as well as ABSA for the opportunity.”

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Rodrigues
On Tuesday, 27 August, around 30 Rodriguan women entrepreneurs participated in a full-day workshop on the SheTrades initiative, co-organized by UNDP Mauritius, the Economic Development Board Mauritius, and the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA).
“It has been almost 2 years since I joined the SheTrades platform and I can say that it is one of the best decisions I have made as a female entrepreneur. The platform has allowed me to participate in numerous webinars and training sessions, whether in person or online. I have been able to develop my knowledge to review and restructure my business. It has also allowed me to network and learn what is happening on an international scale.”

“I am a new member of SheTrades and I can say that since I joined this platform, I had the opportunity last week to be in Abu Dhabi at a summit where I met other women entrepreneurs who have decided to change their lives, make a difference in their families, and in our country’s economy.”
